Our School's Vision

Our vision is to create a school
where students engage in rigorous and standards-aligned instruction
that results in high levels of student achievement
and the creation of confident and productive learners.

Welcome to Highland Elementary School and to the 2018-2019 school year!

On behalf of the entire Highland Elementary School staff, welcome and thank you for choosing Highland for the very important job of educating your child.  We appreciate your trust and promise that we will work each day to make decisions that are in the best interest of learning for every single Highland student.

Each year, we develop a big idea that guides us as we move toward our school’s vision of “high levels of achievement and the creation of productive and confident learners.  This year, you will hear and see the phrase, “Take the Next Step…”  It comes from our belief that we advance toward our goals step by step. Together, we believe, we inspire, and we excel!

To realize our dream of excellence for Highland Elementary School, we need your support.  Our students will not learn to the depth they are capable if they are not in school “on time; stay all day; every single day.”  Our teachers cannot deliver the teaching your children deserve if your children are not present, are arriving late, or leaving early.  Please partner with us to ensure high levels of learning for every Highland student.

Our students are the why behind the work that we do. We impress upon our students that they have important work to do at school.  Learning is their job. The academic and life skills learned at school will serve your children well as they move up the grades, to college, and into the workforce.  Expected student actions include:

  • Arriving on time.
  • Completing nightly homework and reading.
  • Preparing for work with learning tools (pencils, binder, books, and backpack).
  • Participating in the learning process.
  • Growing in the ability to get along with others and solve problems productively.
  • Asking questions, and embracing challenges.

If you wish to contact Mrs. Dorsey or Ms. DeRobles, you can do so as follows:  For quick non-confidential questions, you will find Mrs. Dorsey at the front school entrance and Ms. DeRobles at the side school entrance on most mornings. However, the best way to reach us is to call (951) 788-7292 and speak with Corrine Contreras.  Talking first with our office staff will allow one of us to call you back or schedule an appointment so that we can respond to your questions, comments, or concerns without distractions.

We are excited to have your child with us as we take the next step….to excellence!

With warm regards,

Mrs. Dorsey, Principal
Ms. DeRobles, Assistant Principal
